Menopause Support Group hits the Eastern Carolinas

VENEREAL DISEASES AMONGST MENOPAUSE WOMEN ON THE RISE(AGI) – Oxford, 11 feb. – Adult women tend to ignore the risks of venereal diseases, partly because they are not aimed at them. As a result more and more women who are past their menopause catch venereal diseases. That is what two doctors of the Oxford Radcliffe Infirmary claim in their book entitled Sexual Health and the Menopause. The only safe way to prevent Hiv infection and other venereal diseases is the use of condoms, which a lot of people still see as an anti-pregnancy method. But as women past their menopause cannot get pregnant a lot of them don’t bother. In the age group between 45 and 64 Chlamydia infections have gone up by 177 pct between 1995 and 2003 and the number of gonorrhoea infections has risen by 249 pct. The number of women older than 40 with Hiv has risen from 2 to 7 pct in two year’s time.
