Are bioidentical hormones safe to buy online?

Question by orchid131: Are bioidentical hormones safe to buy online?
I found some bioidentical progesteron cream that has the authenticity label on it’s website. Has anyone bought this online before? And if so, what is a good and authentic site to buy from?

Answer by Caleb C
Ok, the thing about bioidentical hormones are that they are natural to what the body produces on its on. So NO! I would not buy any kind of bioidential medications online due to the fact that at a pharmacy that compounds the medication only has a 43% accuracy rate at mixing the medication correctly, and progesteron is something that if increased or even decreased can cause horrible side effects if your not getting the correct dosage.

Estrogen???

Question by Gabby: Estrogen???
Does estrogen have any negative side affects? Be specific.

Best answer:

Answer by Dude
It causes nagging
It makes husbands take the trash out and clean up after dinner.

Sorry, couldn’t resist.

Can you be more specific, I’m assuming that you mean taking estrogen not naturally occurring. Please post more in your question so that we can answer.

Does anyone know a good OB/GYN in Sacramento, CA area who understands and uses bioidentical hormones?

Question by Tasha: Does anyone know a good OB/GYN in Sacramento, CA area who understands and uses bioidentical hormones?
I live in a small town near Sacrament, CA — none of the OB/GYNs there are familiar with bioidentical hormones for women (or men). So I have to look farther afield for help.

Thanks!

What kind of results have you had taking bioidentical hormones?

Question by CAROL P: What kind of results have you had taking bioidentical hormones?
I am in my second year of menopause and am still suffering terrible effects: Night sweats, hot flashes, mood swings, depression, and heaven help me, putting on weight without trying! I would like to know if anyone has had good results with bioidentical hormones (those gotten from a compounding pharmacy). I have taken the saliva tests and thyroid tests and am awaiting the results. What can I expect in the way of results? By the way, this is a FEMALE ONLY QUESTION AND A I WOULD APPRECIATE ONLY SERIOUS ANSWERS FROM THOSE WITH EXPERIENCE WITH THIS. THANKS.

I hope someone who has experience answers….I just came across a website yesterday about bioidentical hormones (I’ve been having hormonal issues and am just going through the tests with my Dr…not in menopause so we’re trying to figure out what’s going on)……I’m sure that taking the bioidentical hormones would be beneficial and can’t hurt to try. good luck!

Answer by Tarra
Ask your Dr. when they want you to start it. I had to start taking mine about 5 days after ovulation until I got a negative pregnancy test… However on the 2nd month I got a negative, I was pregnant and my body did all the work itself, I stopped 8 days before my positive test. Good luck and check with them…

Question by tennis: What are some alternative ways to treat menopause symptoms without using any hormone replacements?
I really do not want to use any HRT therapy, even bio-identicals. Can you recommend a type of Dr. to see that can treat menopause symptoms without a prescription of some type?

Red Clover and black cohosh are both used to help with menopause. I personally see a ND who specializes in female hormone issues. Check on line, look for a local herbalist, ND, or holistic practitioner.
